Wapama Falls Sticker

Wapama plunges about 1,300 feet and flows into Hetch Hetchy Reservoir, through the O'Shaughnessy Dam. It is a lifeline of San Francisco Bay residents.

Before the damn was completed in 1923, Hetch Hetchy was a lush valley with a very similar resemblance to Yosemite Valley. Most of the water that filters through Tuolumne Meadows eventually becomes the drinking water for San Francisco, via the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir. The water is so clean, that it is one of the few urban reservoirs in the United States to require only minimal water treatment.
